The book contains a portfolio of 80 paintings completed between 1973 and 2021 that are ordered by time. I’ve included a brief description of each work along with the initial sketch for the painting, and the final image. I’ve also tried to describe my personal search for meaning behind the works. Overall, I hope the text provides a personal look into how and why I create.
The book contains many reflections on how my creative journey has evolved over the many years the pictures have taken to complete. Over time, my creative patterns have provided insights into more general ways I solve problems and create knowledge. Personally, the single pattern I use to generate ideas I have come to call ‘Simplicity’, and I have found that this pattern now dominates my artistic thinking. So, as I move through describing each of the paintings, I also explain my journey to Simplicity.
